Introducing The Selling Economy Podcast

A new weekly podcast from AnyTeam. Yosh sits down with revenue leaders to talk about how B2B selling is changing, and what they are doing about it.

Today we are launching The Selling Economy, a weekly podcast hosted by Jeff “Yosh” Yoshimura, co-founder of AnyTeam.

Each episode is a conversation with someone who builds or runs a revenue team: a CRO, a founder, an enablement leader, a seller who has carried a number for twenty years. The first episode is live now, with Joe Williams, who spent more than twelve years at Salesforce as one of its early enterprise sellers.

What the show is about

The sales job is changing faster than it has in a long time. Buyers do more of their research before they ever contact a vendor. AI now handles a good share of the research, note-taking and follow-up that used to fill a rep’s afternoon. Hiring, ramp and comp plans look different than they did three years ago.

Revenue leaders are making real decisions inside all of that, often without much precedent to work from. This show is a place to compare notes with people who are making the same calls.

We ask specific questions and we look for specific answers. What does your team measure now. How long does ramp actually take. Which parts of the job does a rep still do personally, and which parts have moved to software. What worked, and what you would do differently.

Who hosts it

Yosh has spent more than twenty-five years in enterprise go-to-market. He joined Salesforce when it had a few hundred employees and was part of the team that launched the AppExchange. He went on to help scale Zuora and Elastic through their IPOs, and served as chief marketing officer at Elastic and at Snyk. He is a co-founder of AnyTeam.

The format is a conversation rather than an interview. Guests talk about their own experience in plain terms, and the questions follow what they say.

Upcoming guests

  • Kristin Anderson — co-founder and president of Accelerant Growth Solutions, who has assessed more than 15,000 sales professionals.
  • Sheevaun Thatcher — built a 150-person enablement team at RingCentral, now VP of revenue enablement at Demandbase.
  • Paul Melchiorre — former CRO and president at Anaplan, EVP of global accounts at SAP and Ariba, co-author of Selling the Cloud.
  • Kelly Miller — CRO at Nitor Partners and former SVP of North America sales at SAP.
  • Bryan Breckenridge — an early pre-IPO Salesforce account executive who took that career into social impact work at Box and LinkedIn.
  • Neil Bhuiyan — sales coach who has trained more than 4,500 sellers and hosts the SDR DiscoCall Podcast.
  • Doug Erpenbeck — led global sales enablement across 4,000 sellers at Juniper Networks.
  • Scott Edmonds — employee number ten at Marketo, who later led its expansion across EMEA and Asia-Pacific.

Coming up

Episodes in the next few weeks cover the changing role of the account executive, the future of CRM, founder-led sales in an AI-driven market, and the economics of sales-led growth.

“Some of my best deals at Oracle and Salesforce didn’t close on features. They closed because the buyer trusted me enough to put their own reputation on the line.”

Joe Williams — Episode 1

Why we made it

We build AnyTeam for revenue teams, so we spend our days talking with the people on this show. Those conversations have been useful to us, and they should be useful to anyone doing the same job. That is the whole reason for the podcast.

It is not a product demo. Guests talk about their work, and AnyTeam only comes up when a guest brings it up.

Where to listen

Episode one with Joe Williams is live now. New episodes come out every week.
